Your electric use changes with the seasons and so does your bill. But with our Even Monthly Payment (EMP) program, you can pay the same amount each month. We determine a monthly payment based on the average of your last 12 months' electric usage. This means you'll know the amount of your monthly electric payments in advance. Once a year we'll settle any differences between the energy you used and the energy you paid for. Your account will be reviewed every 4 months to ensure that your usage is in line with what you are paying. If your usage is significantly higher or lower, we will adjust it accordingly and let you know.
EMP won't save you money, but this free service can help you better manage your budget. Otter Tail Power Company will pay interest on your average daily credit balance. Enroll in EMP and, if it doesn't work for you, it's easy to return to conventional billing.
