Energy analysis and recommissioning
Help for Minnesota customers to find efficiency gains
With this CIP program Otter Tail Power Company will pay a portion of the cost for compressed air audits and general energy audits of your business operations aimed at finding opportunities to increase energy efficiency in your existing building and systems.
Then, based on the audit findings further assistance is available to make repairs and improvements in your cooling and mechanical systems to optimize equipment operations. Called recommissioning, these improvements promise to reduce energy use and costs as well as reduce peak electric demand.
Why complete compressed air audits?
In applications from cryogenics to refrigeration, many manufacturers refer to compressed air as their plant's fourth utility. Yet research shows that in even the best compressed-air systems, only 20 percent to 25 percent of the electricity going into the system ends up as useful compressed air. Many facilities lose 20 percent to 40 percent of compressed air to leaks . Much of that loss occurs at end-uses where flexible fittings connect air-powered equipment to the air distribution system, at worn pipe fittings, and in dated and unprotected piping.
If you use compressed air to operate power tools, packaging, conveyors, or control systems, a compressed-air audit can help you identify cost-effective solutions to problems in your compressed-air system.
Audit rebates through Minnesota CIP
Through our Conservation Improvement Program, Minnesota business customers may be eligible for a rebate of 80 percent of the audit costs to a maximum of $10,000. Qualifying customers will participate on a first-come, first-served basis, as funds are limited.
