CoolSavings air conditioning control
Cycle your air conditioner and receive a $5 credit on your bill
If you participate in CoolSavings, we will install a radio receiver in your home that will allow us to cycle your air conditioner on and off every 15 minutes during summer control periods. This form of controlled service helps us to manage summer electricity demand much like off-peak heating programs help us during the winter. In return, you'll receive a $5 credit on your electric service statement each month from June through September.
And you probably will stay quite comfortable. Customer research shows that most CoolSavings participants remain comfortable and aren't aware that their air conditioners are being controlled.
Qualifications
- You must be a customer of Otter Tail Power Company in Minnesota.
- You must have a central air-conditioning system such as a ducted or high-velocity system. Window units and ductless mini split systems are not eligible.
- You may place air-source heat pumps or geothermal heat pumps on the program if they are not already on one of Otter Tail Power Company's controlled service rates.
