An Otter Tail Company

Conservation Improvement Program

What is CIP?

Since 1992 Minnesota public electric and gas utilities, including Otter Tail Power Company, have been required to spend about 1.5 percent of their annual revenues on energy conservation improvement programs.

CIP includes special programs for homeowners and renters, commercial businesses, manufacturing enterprises, and other industrial customers. CIP provides rebates, grants, energy audits, and education that focus on energy-saving improvements and technologies.

Minnesota customers pay for these programs through their electric or gas bills. Costs are included under the Resource Adjustment line item on their bill. The programs are only available to Minnesota customers.

Energy conservation is good for everyone

Whether you are a Minnesota customer or not, you can benefit by replacing old equipment with high-efficiency electric technologies and appliances. And you may qualify for financing for energy-related purchases and products.
