REAP - Released energy access program
Increase your cash flow by reducing your energy use
Our free Released Energy Access Program (REAP) is an Internet-based service that links timely management of your energy use to other regional energy needs. When you voluntarily release energy that we can sell or use for other customers during peak times, you become our partner. And you reap the rewards.
Here's how REAP works
When Otter Tail Power Company expects peak conditions and high energy prices, we email an energy release offer to REAP participants. Customers that commit to the offer agree to curtail a specific amount of power use at the required time. The released energy is then used to serve our other customers or, if those obligations are met, it's resold. Otter Tail Power Company compensates REAP participants for released energy by sending the company a check or providing a credit on their monthly service statement.
Requirements
REAP participants must agree to a minimum one-year contract and must have:
- A minimum of 500 kW of metered demand.
- Interval data metering.
- The flexibility to respond quickly to energy release offers.
- Internet access.
