An Otter Tail Company

Deferred load and fixed-time-of-delivery

Two special off-peak rates

Deferred-load rate

The deferred-load rate works well with most thermal-storage systems, including underfloor, central, and room heat-storage units, that can be charged during off-peak hours to keep you warm during controlled periods. With the deferred-load rate, Otter Tail Power Company uses radio signals to control your service up to 14 hours a day. The rate ranges from 3.3¢ to 4.2¢ per kilowatt-hour, depending on the state in which you are located and is subject to cost of energy adjustments.

Fixed-time-of-delivery rate

When you wait until evenings or weekends to take advantage of lower long-distance telephone charges, you're using a time-of-delivery rate. This rate works the same way.

By charging your electric heating systems from 11 P.M. to 7 A.M., you allow us to operate more efficiently. In turn, we pass on the savings to you with a rate of 2.9¢ or less per kilowatt-hour depending on the state in which you are located. Cost of energy adjustments do not apply to this rate.

This rate also works well for thermal-storage heating systems and water heaters that may be charged overnight. However, systems must be sized with adequate capacity to qualify.
