Taplin Gorge hydropower plant

Six small hydro plants in Minnesota generate about seven percent of Otter Tail Power Company's electricity. The Bemidji hydro plant is located on the Mississippi River while the other plants are located on the Otter Tail River near Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

The Dayton Hollow hydro station was Otter Tail Power Company's first source of electricity.
Hoot Lake

A tunnel diverts water from the Otter Tail River to run the water wheel at Hoot Lake Plant.
Pisgah Dam

In 1918 we began purchasing this dam's output and in 1938 we purchased the entire facility.
Wright Dam
.5 mw - online 1922
This plant is named after Vernon A. Wright, one of the company's founders.
Taplin Gorge

As shown in the picture on this page, this dam was designed as a replica of the tomb of Italian Emperor Theodoric.
